Co-Operative Community Fundraising!

posted 19 Apr 2017, 11:21 by Sheila Bacon   [ updated 19 Apr 2017, 12:21 ]

Along with representatives from Westerings and The Hockley 55+ Club, 3 members of our Gardening Club represented Plumberow at the presentation of the monies raised through the Co-Operative Community Fundraising Scheme!
'We would like to improve the Plumberow chicken area. In the Autumn our Gardening Club spent time trying to develop and improve this area and look after the grounds ready for the Winter. Now that the Summer term is here, our ‘green fingers’ are itching again ready to return to the garden and make our outside area beautiful for the summer. Our Plumberow Gardening club and Eco Warrior Team would like to change our chicken area into a space where we can promote a love for outdoor learning. We would like to have a seating area where we can go with our friends and share stories with our class. With thanks to the Co-operative fundraising we will be able to put our plans into action and make an excellent area for everyone to enjoy.' (report by Mrs Cross)
A HUGE THANK YOU to everyone who chose Plumberow on this scheme! Your support raised £2897 to help the Gardening Club fulfill their wishes to improve the chicken area! (Westerings received £2637 and The 55+ Club received £3080).
The pupils from Westerings and Plumberow were also shown some of the facilities of the 55+ Club's new minibus before all 3 causes received some 'goodies' from the Co-Operative's manager! Mrs Smart also discussed our improvement plans with the store manager who is hoping to further support Plumberow by organising a 'Community Day' at Plumberow, working on the area!

Thank You!

'This week the children amazed us by working so hard as a team in order to prepare Poppy seeds for sale!
They worked in teams to de-seed the poppy heads, bag the seeds, make labels and design posters to advertise
the sale of the Poppies. Mrs Smart and I were extremely impressed with their hard work and determination.
Poppies will be for sale after school next Wednesday 12th October for 50p a bag, first come, first served!!'

We also gave everything a good water as the ground is so dry!'

We then split into three teams. One helped to clear and organise the area for the outdoor music session. Another watered all of the plants and flower beds. And the final group re-wrote signs on the year one flower beds to remind people not to sit on them!'
