Healthy Schools and Food Crew!

The Daily Mile!
The first of the Plumberow Daily Miles saw pupils (adults and toddlers!) running and walking
on a VERY hot and humid summer morning!

Later in the week, the number of pupils increased, as did the number of parents, staff and family members!

Our Head Boy and Head Girl, along with Miss B. Jones, attended the Healthy Schools Awards Ceremony in Chelmsford.
They were there to officially collect our re-accreditation certificate on behalf of Plumberow! A fun afternoon too!!

As a school, we have been working very hard over the last few terms to achieve re-accreditation of our Healthy School’s status. In order to do this, pupils, parents, staff and governors have been working towards improving key areas within our school e.g school dinner and lunchtime provision, updating our school food policy and reflecting on our existing practice in relation to the Healthy Schools Benchmarking Tool. We are pleased to announce that our re-accreditation has been successful and we will be working towards gaining our enhanced Healthy Schools’ status.
This year, the Food Crew
(working alongside the Healthy Schools Group) are working on:
  • Improving dinner hall facilities
  • Using children's ideas to update our menus
  • Improving the appearance of the dinner hall
  • Increasing opportunities to recycle waste
  • Developing a revised school food policy
If you have any suggestions for how lunchtimes can be improved, please tell the Junior Leadership Team!

To increase the opportunities to recycle waste at lunchtimes, the Junior Leadership Team, together with Food Crew members, organised for the purchase of a new waste trolley! They also organised the purchase of a new salad bar!
