A group of Year 4 boys attended a Writing Workshop held at Woodville Primary School in South Woodham Ferrers!
They had a brilliant day with the performance poet Neal Zetter and impressed everyone with their vocabulary! They played word games in the morning and then the children mixed with the other schools to create a piece of performance poetry in the afternoon!
Writing is Fun!

They made shields, mosaics, jewellery, lamps, masks, wreaths, scrolls, coin purses and studied other Roman artefacts!

Colchester Castle

(more photos added!) As part of their topic on Romans, Year 4 pupils spent a day at Colchester Castle!
They toured the museum looking at Roman artefacts, learnt about the history of Colchester during the first century AD including the Celtic revolt led by Boudicca, and then constructed a Roman villa and Celtic round house. It certainly helped put their Roman topic in context and was extremely worthwhile!

This term, the year 4 R.E. topic has been Islam. As an end to the topic, Mr Lebeze, a year 4 parent, came to talk to the year group about being a Muslim. The children impressed him with their knowledge of Islam and the talk helped to both consolidate their knowledge and further their understanding of the religion. Once again, we would like to thank Mr Lebeze for giving up his time and kindly agreeing to talk to the children.

Mrs. Bacon had Mr Vaughan's class investigating what happens to a chocolate button when you hold it in your hand! It might have got a bit messy, but it was a fun way to learn!

(and the added bonus....eating the melted chocolate!)
