Forest Schools - Session 6!

posted 22 Nov 2017, 11:38 by Sheila Bacon   [ updated 23 Nov 2017, 00:54 ]

In their final Forest Schools session, Year 2 made houses from paper, wood and straw to see how quickly they would burn -
to understand how they burnt in The Great Fire of London (their topic) - very quickly!
They also toasted marshmallows and enjoyed them - yum!
They ended their session by reminiscing about their Forest School adventure and shared what their favourite had been.
Finally, they gave 'three cheers' for Sue Squirrel and our parent helpers, without whom none of the sessions could have happened!
Huge thanks!

In their 5th session of Forest Schools, Year 2 pupils gathered around the fire circle and enjoyed hot chocolate with marshmallows!  Sue had a new 'Kelly Kettle'which boiled the water for their lovely treat!  They then made sparks with flint and steel and whittled sticks to make Stick Men or forest school candles. They also made dens, went bug hunting and made pictures on the forest floor with leaves and twigs!

Forest Schools - Session 4!

posted 8 Nov 2017, 09:52 by Sheila Bacon   [ updated 9 Nov 2017, 09:45 ]

In the latest Forest Schools session, Year 2 pupils hunted for minibeasts to compare their habitats now that the weather is colder, made dens and used the technique of 'Happadrone' to make flags and bunting - they placed a leaf underneath some material and used a stone to bash the leaf so that the colour was printed on to the fabric, and then made flags!
