Gardening Day!

A 'broader curriculum' day for Year 1 ... and what a transformation!!!

Year 1 children planted up the garden beds with plants that the children brought in. They weeded, dug, swept and tidied lots of areas. A group went to the Wildlife Pond where they made a new Fairy Garden and sorted out the bird feeders. They also made a new log pile for the insects. There is now a seating area there which can be used by group reading groups!
In the afternoon, the children made a scarecrow, designed large measuring sticks and planted a donated wheelbarrow based on the book, 'Harry's Garden'! They also decorated pebbles to place around their plants. Everyone (including staff) had a fabulous day! Behavior was excellent and the results are stunning!
(report from Mrs Smart)
A HUGE thank you to everyone who donated plants etc, the children for all their hard work and all the Year 1 staff (especially Mrs Smart, Mrs Hause and Mrs Spremuli and Mrs Godfrey who came back to us for the day!!!)
