Year 1 Curriculum

Please find below details of some websites suggested at the Year 1 Literacy Workshops held in October 2016

Pirate Ships!

In Year 1, as part of their DT work for this half term and as part of their Pirates topic, the pupils designed pirate ships! Working in small teams, they then made them! The pupils tested their results on the water to see if they were fit for Pirates, and then evaluated their success (or failure!)

Signs of Autumn!

As part of their Science project on weather and the seasons, Year 1 pupils went on an Autumn Walk, looking for clues and signs of Autumn!

Drama Workshop!

Pupils from Years 1&2 were visited by the drama group 'Perform' who came to Plumberow  to share an 'Under the Sea' session which promoted their company!

Shiver me timbers! Pirate Day!!!

Ahoy, me hearties (hello, my friends/crew members)!! Avast ye (stop and check this out or pay attention) - What a fantastic day full of pirate games and activities!! Pirate dance, pirate songs, pirate ships, pirate biscuits, pirate punch, pirate junk modelling....and that was just some of the indoor activities! Outside, there was a Captain's Table and a treasure chest garden!
Savvy? (do you understand and do you agree?)
Thank you to everyone who helped and for all the super pirate costumes (pupils and staff all looked brilliant) and pirate themed lunches!

A Granddad of a pupil in Year 1 had lots of willing helpers to help him tidy the Year 1 garden area!

Mrs Myall's class have also had a very busy start in Year 1! Painting their pirates and then the naughty pirates stole their treasure! The pupils looked for clues, made wanted posters and finally found the treasure!!!

Ms Brown's class have had a busy first few weeks in Year 1!!
Pirate work...Dressing up (pupils and staff!)...number bonds in maths...and looking for clues after there was a break-in and someone stole the treasure chest!!!
...and we have been learning our number bonds to 10...
