Gruffalo Woods!

Have you seen the Gruffalo?? Foundation pupils visited Thorndon Park and went on a Gruffalo Hunt! They discussed the characters from the book that they have been focusing on in class. Each class had a different park ranger leader who helped them look at suitable areas/spaces to create a house for a mouse! They discussed the sizes of each animal and the children made little dens for the mouse in small groups. The children also spoke about the differences between the mouse, fox and the gruffalo. Then it was off to find the Gruffalo (singing the Gruffalo song)!
After lunch, the focus was on the 'Room on the Broom', another story by Julia Donaldson. The children (and staff) had a list of ingredients to find to make a Witches Brew (something squishy, something fluffy, something crunchy....etc). They then each added their ingredients to a class potion and mixed it all up! After that they made their own broomsticks for the witch!
It was a BRILLIANT day and all the behaviour of the children was OUTSTANDING!!!
