Parent Teacher Association

There is a strong and active PTA which arranges events for both adults and children. Activities such as quiz nights and race nights are very enjoyable social functions and of course, provide welcome additional funding for the academy. The largest fundraising events are the Summer Fun Afternoon and Christmas Bazaar. In recent years, monies from such activities have provided the academy with a replacement swimming pool and changing rooms, a minibus, computers, books, a new kitchen and sun shades for the field.

All parents and staff automatically become members and annually a Committee is elected to organise events for the coming year.

The PTA is a full member of the National Council for Parent Teacher Associations (NCPTA).

Thank you to everyone who helped out at the Christmas wrap night, and at home.
Also, thank you to all the offers of help for the gift shop. If you have not been notified already by a member of the PTA team then, for this event, we will not require your assistance. However, we do rely upon the continual support of the parents, for all the PTA events and wish to thank you so much for all your help so far.

Latest News!
18th November - PTA WRAP NIGHT – A huge thank you to those who attended the Wrap Night. Unfortunately, there were not enough of us to get it all done, but I am grateful to those able to take gifts home to wrap, and to those who have agreed to collect items on Monday. Please remember, that without parent volunteers, we are unable to hold these events. It is not too late to get involved in the Gift Shop. The more helpers there are, the quicker we can get set up on the Thursday, and the quicker we will get out on the Friday, as we can clear up as we go along. Please contact either myself or the school office if you can help.
Many thanks, Caroline Smith

We have 7000 gifts to be wrapped and ready for the Christmas Gift Shop. If you can, please attend our “Wrap Night” on Thursday 17th November, 7.00pm – 9.00pm in Blue Hall, to either help wrap or take a box of gifts home. It is not too late to put your name down to help at the Gift Shop, which is on Friday 2nd December.
Please get in touch if you would like to be involved.
Many thanks,
Caroline Smith

24th June - Thank you to all of the parents for supporting the Father’s Day Gift Shop. We managed to raise a fantastic £960. The Summer Fete is now just one week away. Please keep everything crossed for a clear day!! Thank you for your generous donations. We no longer require teddy bears or books. However, we are still looking for Tombola items, tin cans, and most importantly, volunteers to man the entrance gate and the afternoon tea tent. If you can help, please contact me asap. There will be a separate letter coming home with the children, with details on it, on how to enter our raffle draw, so that you can purchase them in advance. We are not selling entrance tickets to the fete in advance, as it’s only £1 for adults and free to all under 16s.

17th June - Thank you to everyone who brought their donations in for the Summer Fete this week. We will be collecting items again next week. This will take place every afternoon at the shelter on the playground. Thank you also if you have volunteered to help at the fete. We are still short of helpers in the Afternoon Tea tent, the entrance gates and the face painting stall. If you can help for an hour or two, please contact us as soon as possible.
Finally, we would like to wish all of the Dads a very happy Father’s Day.
Thank you,
Caroline Smith

Father's Day Gift Shop!

The PTA will be collecting donations for the Summer Fete. They will be stationed on the playground underneath the bus shelter, near to the chicken coop, every day after school. They are collecting teddy bears, books (children and adults), unwanted toys or gifts, unwanted school jumpers, empty and washed out tin cans and any items for the tombola. You can also pop over and put your name down to help somewhere on the day, as volunteers are still needed. Also, just to confirm year 5 and year 6 children are allowed to run stalls as long as there is at least one adult helping. Just a reminder that it is the Father’s Day shop next Friday. A separate letter will be going out regarding this.
Many thanks for your support.

SWAP-A-RAMA – This week, we held our first Swap-A-Rama. It was really great fun and the children involved all had a good time swapping clothes. Thank you to all of the parents who donated clothing for this event. Also, a HUGE well done to Miss Ellis and the ECO-Warriors. They were a great help setting up and running the event. Most importantly, they have done a tremendous job getting the message across of recycling clothes out to all of the school. Great Teamwork!

SUMMER FETE – Please read your Summer Fete letter that was sent out this week and let us know if you would like to be involved. The more people who help, the more successful the event will be. Happy Half Term! A letter will also be coming home today to ask for help advertising the Fete with boards outside your house. Your help would be greatly appreciated here too.

Swap-A-Rama Event

The PTA, assisted by the Eco Warriors, held a Swap-a-Rama during Recycling Week!

'Thank you to all of the parents who supported our Easter Raffle. We hope the children enjoy their eggs! We would also like to say a big thank you to those who attended the recent meetings and those who have expressed an interest in helping to arrange the summer fete. We look forward to sharing our plans in more detail after the break. Happy Easter from the PTA.'

Thank you for all your support with the Mother’s Day Gift Shop. I would also like to say a huge thank you to the Mums who gave up their day to help with the shop. It was a fun and successful day and the children couldn’t grab their gifts quick enough! We have managed to raise a huge £1,500 for the children. At our last meeting we discussed the upcoming Summer Fete and the spending plans for the money raised. There will be another meeting, for those of you who cannot come in the day. This will be held on Thursday 17th March, at 7.00pm, where we will be discussing our ideas for this year’s Summer Fete. The fete will now be held on Saturday 2nd July. If you have any ideas that you would like to discuss, or you would like to be involved in any way, please come along to the meeting. Caroline Smith

The school discos were a great success, and it was clear at every year group disco that the children really enjoyed themselves. Thank you for your support and thank you to all the parents who gave up their time to help out. We had a fantastic response with over 40 offers. We would also like to say a special thank you to Graham Hunter for the use of the disco equipment and to Sarah and Pete Booker for the music. We raised £1,005 and are already in discussions as to where this money can be spent on the children.

'Thank you to everyone who registered with “The Giving Machine”. So far, we have raised £356.76 in free donations. That is fantastic!! If you still have online shopping to do, don’t forget to sign up. Merry Christmas everybody!'
Caroline Smith – PTA Chairperson

'Thank you to all of the parents who supported the Christmas Gift Shop last week. Everyone involved in the day will agree it was a great success and the children seemed to love choosing their gifts for you. As well as supplying approximately 5000 gifts for the children to choose from, we also managed to raise over £1,800 for the school. A great day all round. As December is such a busy month for the school, there has been no December meeting. The next one will be an afternoon meeting in January, with more details to follow.
I’d like to thank you all for your support this term and wish you all a very Merry Christmas!!'
Caroline Smith – PTA Chairperson
On behalf of the school, I would like to echo Caroline’s comments and thank all of the parents who helped make it another hugely successful and enjoyable Christmas Shop. If you helped on the day, on the “Wrap Night” or by sending your child in with money to spend at the stalls - Thank you.

The PTA would like to use an easy way for you to help raise funds for the school without doing anything extra! The children will be bringing home a business card advertising The Giving Machine. You can all raise free donations to our school any time you shop online, so please bear this in mind when you are Christmas shopping. All you need to do is visit and register as a “Giver”. Then select Plumberow Primary Academy as your chosen charity. There are hundreds of online shops that take part in the scheme, including Amazon, Ebay and all of the high street names. Just carry out your online shopping through his site and give for free!

More News ...!!!
The PTA would like to thank everyone for their donations of Christmas wrapping paper. We have collected an amazing 681 rolls. The KS1 winners were Mrs Bolton’s class and the KS2 winners were Mrs Guy’s class. Prizes will follow.
Thank you to all parents involved in this week’s Wrap Night and also those who have taken wrapping to do at home.
