Transition to Secondary Education

At the end of Year 6, children transfer to one of the local comprehensive Schools/Academies or a selective School/Academy in the Borough of Southend. All children are given the opportunity to take the 11+ selection test. Information relating to this test is distributed during the summer term of Year 5. Children living in the catchment area of Plumberow Primary Academy would normally be allocated a place at Greensward Academy, although this is dependent upon their own admissions policy. During Years 5 and 6, visits to Greensward Academy are arranged in order to familiarise our pupils with the larger environment of a Secondary Academy/School.

As transition to secondary education can be scary, we have produced a video with the help of year 7 students at Greensward Academy, who answered some of the fears of year 6 pupils at Plumberow.
