Governing Body

The Governing Body
Ofsted Inspectors reported that ... "Governors are proud of the school and are ambitious"

"Governors have a good understanding of pupils’ performance and the quality of teaching" (Ofsted report March 2014)

The Governing Body at Plumberow is responsible for working to ensure that it delivers a good quality education. Together with the headteacher, who is responsible for the day-to-day management, they set the academy's aims and policies.

In accordance with the Government’s requirement for all governing boards, the three core strategic functions of the Governing Board at Plumberow Primary Academy are:

  • Ensuring clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction
  • Holding the Head Teacher to account for the educational performance of the school and its pupils
  • Overseeing the financial performance of the school and making sure its money is well spent
(A record of Governors' attendance at meetings and a list of business interests can be found further by scrolling down this page!)

Governors also carry out a number of other important duties, which include:
    • Determining how the academy's budget is spent
    • The appointing and dismissing of staff
    • Hearing appeals and grievances
    • Forming policy on the academy's curriculum and Collective Worship
    • Setting standards for pupils' behaviour and discipline
    • Making sure academy buildings are welcoming and safe
    • Setting and monitoring the academy's aims and policies

Welcome from the Chair of Governors- Mrs Anne Snelson:

As chair of the governors I’d like to welcome you, on behalf of all the governors, to the Plumberow Primary Academy Website. Plumberow Primary converted to Academy Status in September 2011 and is now part of The Academies Enterprise Trust (AET). This is the operational arm of the Greensward Charitable Trust, which is a federation of academies created to provide thousands of students/pupils with the best possible education. We are very proud of our school (children and staff) and of our results, both the academic ones that you can read in the league tables (more information can be found under About Us – Academy results) and the less tangible ones that show in the way that the children conduct and express themselves.... (the full letter of welcome can be viewed/downloaded, here!)

The Chair of Governors can be contacted via the Plumberow Primary Academy office.
